Pukekura Park
Pukekura Park is beautiful all year round. In the summer it is lit up in the evenings during the Festival of Lights, also offering free live entertainment in stunning surroundings. The fernery with connecting earth tunnels, and displays of exotic plants including a colourful begonia house is not to be missed. Children love the spacious playground.

TSB Festival of Lights
Since 1993 the TSB Bank Festival of Lights has been wowing hundreds of thousands of visitors each year with an awesome mix of events, entertainment and of course a spectacular lighting display set against the backdrop of Pukekura Park. At night, fluorescent pebble paths sparkle beneath excited feet, majestic trees and plants glow, and waterfalls and lakes shimmer and shine beneath thousands of lighting displays. But it's the features such as the talking giant, fire poi dancers or the parades that captivate the young and the not so young. Head along to the vibrant Farmers Market scene – on every Sunday morning 9am - 12pm – at Huatoki Plaza. Oakura Arts Trail
All year round you are invited to take a self-guided arts trail by following the yellow and turquoise flags around Oakura. There are also open event weekends where you will have the chance to visit the 12 artists in their studios.
There is pottery, painters, workshops, felters, glases, artists, jewellers, sculptors and printmakers.
Hillsborough Holden Museum & Mini Putt
Head along to see New Zealand's largest private collection of Holden cars and memorabilia, have a hit on the Bathurst themed mini putt golf course, or have a bite to eat in the café. Fun for the whole family.
Brooklands Zoo
Brooklands Zoo is one of the country's best little zoos that always delivers a great day out. It's home to a lovely bunch of animals including farm animals, reptiles, meerkats, monkeys, tamarins and more. It's also got a fantastic bird aviary that you can walk through and an awesome playground for the kids to play in. Entry to the zoo is free.
